My brother was intelligent, then became mentally retarded during adolescence. What happened?
He was quite intelligence. Then during middle school he was bullied and that caused him a lot of emotional pain and stress. During 14 his intelligence degenerated until he was mentally retarded. What happened? The doctors said it was schizophrenia, but that doesn’t cause severe mental retardation.
The Doctors don’t want to help us. We have to figure this out ourselves. So far we researched that we should do some allergy tests, hormonal tests, and tests for nutrient deficiencies.
If his problems stem from Social Cognition, that would be a typical symptom of Schizophrenia.
Unfortunately, there is not enough information that you can post here for anyone to be able to tell you. The guesses would be similar to yours: try hormonal tests, nutrition factors, etc.
