Will Reiki work for Diabetics?

I am Diabetic for the past two years and my Bloos sugar level reads fasting 115 and pp-191. I am taking Glimipride tablets 1mg after break fast. I can keep it at 145pp only if I am very strict with my diet and daily walk for 1/2hrs. What other alternative medicines will help me in keeping sugar level at normal. I am scared of trying Homeo and Sidha since people say it may affect Kidnesy. Will Reiki work in this regards. I am infact a reiki healer (having not practised for nearly 4yrs due to personal reasons though I firmly believe in it). If so which centers should I treat and with what symbols. Since Reiki symbols are generally confidential u can mail it to my email id: omkumar2000@yahoo.com. Please help me on this.

yeah it can work provided u have FAITH in it!!!
all the best

The natural, holistic approach to health and wellness has been employed for centuries, by cultures all over the world. As more and more people become disillusioned with modern, Western medicine, the holistic approach finds itself gaining popularity once again, and the seven practitioners of holistic healing featured in this informative program explain why. Detailing both the philosophical and practical mechanics of their trade, the experts illustrate how the core of their technique is to make people healthy in body and mind, banishing ailments by finding the root cause and curing it, rather than simply masking the symptoms. ~ Cammila Albertson, Rovi

A Woman's Guide to Sleep: Guaranteed Solutions for a Good Night's Rest

A Woman’s Guide to Sleep: Guaranteed Solutions for a Good Night’s Rest

$0.99

How many hours of sleep did you get last night? Five? Six? None? You’re not alone. Most women get far less sleep than they need — in any given month more than half report symptoms of insomnia. Women’s sleep problems are different from men’s because they have a different biology, psychology, and sleep patterns. A Woman’s Guide to Sleep is the first book to address your unique needs, and offer proven solutions that work.Your sleep is affected by many factors. Fluctuating hormones — whether it’s PMS, pregnancy, or menopause — can wreak havoc on your sleep. If you’ve just given birth, you stand to lose 700 hours of sleep your baby’s first year! The “architecture” of your sleep changes as you age, and you might find yourself suddenly waking hours off schedule. Health problems that affect women disproportionately, such as depression and pain syndromes, also erode healthy sleep. What you eat — or don’t eat, if you’re dieting — can sabotage your nights, as can that nightcap you have. And social pressures — juggling work, home, and parenting — can fill your nights with anxiety instead of restful sleep. These unique problems require unique solutions. Dr. Joyce A. Walsleben, director of the Sleep Disorders Center at the NYU School of Medicine, and Rita Baron-Faust, a leading writer for women’s health issues, explain how sleep problems arise and how to combat them with the right sleep-promoting foods, supplements, exercise, stress reducers, and biorhythm adjustments, as well as with prescription, over-the-counter, and alternative treatments. You’ll learn to avoid the sleep robbers hidden in many common foods, medications, andsupplements. Drawn from Dr. Walsleben’s more than twenty years as a sleep researcher and clinician, many of these solutions are simple, surprising, and low-tech — and they really work. This book also tells you how to get a good night’s sleep when your partner is the one tossing

Artificial Happiness: The Dark Side of the New Happy Class

Artificial Happiness: The Dark Side of the New Happy Class

$2.96

Ronald Dworkin, Fellow at the Hudson Institute, has written a book of social commentary that combines the politics of healthcare and medical ethics with several momentous changes that have dramatically altered the relationship among doctors and patients, creating what Dworkin dubs artificial happiness. He examines the rise of psychotropic drugs; alternative medicine; the belief in endorphins as a way to maximize health through exercise; and medicine’s investigations of spirituality — all during the past thirty years — fitting them together into a story that puts Americans at the center of a novel social experiment: helping people feel happy independent of the facts in their lives. Though well-intentioned, Dworkin identifies a dark side, asserting that Prozac, for instance, is freezing people in unsatisfactory relationships and jobs, nullifying their impulse to change, because of the happiness induced by the medicine.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Ethics, the Patient, and the Physician

Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Ethics, the Patient, and the Physician

$4.27

Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Ethics, the Patient, and the Physician is the first comprehensive, multidisciplinary book to focus on the ethical challenges of complementary and alternative medicine(CAM), examining the ethical considerations and challenges that increasingly face patients, physicians and complementary and alternative medicine practitioners today. In one recent year, it was estimated that 42% of Americans spent $27 billion out of pocket on CAM therapies; in particular, CAM therapies are becoming more popular with baby boomers, who are taking an increasingly active interest in their health and health care as they age. Most people do not tell their physicians about their CAM use – what implications does this have for traditional patient-physician relationships? This volume examines what should be the center of the dialogue between conventional medicine and CAM. With big issues and big money at stake, how are patients, physicians, the health care system and policymakers handling the explosion in CAM interest and use? What are the physicians’ ethical obligations in this area? Ephedra

Ephedra

$80

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ephedra, from the plant Ephedra sinica, has been used as a herbal remedy in traditional Chinese medicine for 5,000 years for the treatment of asthma and hay fever, as well as for the common cold. Known in Chinese as ma huang, ephedra is a stimulant which constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure and heart rate. Several additional species belonging to the genus Ephedra have traditionally been used for a variety of medicinal purposes, and are a possible candidate for the Soma plant of Indo-Iranian religion. Native Americans and Mormon pioneers drank a tea brewed from an Ephedra, called Mormon Tea, but North American ephedras lack the alkaloids found in species such as E. sinica. Ephedra-containing dietary supplements have been linked to a high rate of serious side effects and a number of deaths, leading to concern from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and the medical community. However, initial efforts to test and regulate ephedra were defeated by lobbying and political pressure from the dietary-supplement industry.

 Medical Malpractice on Trial

Medical Malpractice on Trial

$66.43

Medical malpractice has been at the center of recurring tort crises for the last quarter-century. In 1960, expenditures on medical liability insurance in the United States amounted to about $60 million. In 1988, the figure topped $7 billion. Physicians have responded not simply with expensive methods of defensive medicine but also with successful pressure upon state legislatures to cut back on the tort rights of seriously injured patients. Various reforms have been proposed to deal with the successive crises, but so far none have proved to be effective and fair. In this landmark book, Paul Weiler argues for a two-part approach to the medical malpractice crisis. First, he proposes a thorough revision of the current tort liability regime, which would concentrate available resources on meeting actual financial losses of seriously injured victims. It would also shift the focus of tort liability from the individual doctor to the hospital or other health care organization. This would elicit more effective quality assurance programs from the institutions that are in the best position to reduce our current unacceptable rate of physician-induced injuries. But in states such as New York, Florida, and Illinois, where the current situation seems to have gone beyond the help of even drastic tort reform, the preferred solution is a no-fault system. Weiler shows how such a system would provide more equitable compensation, more effective prevention, and more economical administration than any practical alternative.

 Medical Terminology

Medical Terminology

$90.71

Medical Terminology: A Programmed Approach is the ideal resource for instructors and students wanting a concise and systematic approach to learning the language of health care. Recognizing that students learn medical terminology by constructing and deconstructing words into their parts, the authors have built this process into the text and the numerous exercises. The approach builds and constantly reinforces skills needed to deal with increasingly complicated terms. A body systems organization is used, providing a clear content framework for the text. Each body system chapter separates words into easily learnable groups: major parts of each system; word parts related to each system; and diagnostic, pathological, surgical and pharmacological terms. Carefully chosen chapter features help bring the subject to life, and add an on-the-job perspective. Case-study information is built into examples, and real medical documents are used whenever appropriate. Internet references are included throughout, to emphasize the importance of online resources and tools. While most activities are straight-forward practice exercises, word-building and critical thinking skills are also built in. Wherever possible, material on Complementary and Alternative Medicine ( CAM ) is included to highlight this growing area of medicine. In addition to the text, students will be able to access a wealth of electronic resources to aid their studies: The Student CD-ROM will include a suite of activity-based learning tools: crossword puzzles, Hangman game, Concentration, term to definition matching, audio feedback, and That’s Epidemic, an activity focusing on pathology terms. Exercises are gradable online, or can beused for self-paced review. The Online Learning Center website ( OLC ) will provide a set of additional self-test questions; chapter study outlines; web links of interest; and additional word-building activities.
